The Prominent Legendary Ugandan Footballers

Uganda as the Pearl of Africa, is not only focused on its economy and politics but the country has also managed to produce a number of talented soccer players. The list includes the best soccer players in Uganda over the years,

1. Dennis Onyango

Born on 15th May 1985, he is a Ugandan professional footballer who plays as a goal keeper for South African Premier Soccer league in the Mamelodi Sundowns.

2. David Obua

He is a Ugandan football coach and former professional football player who is also the current URA FC coach in the Ugandan Premier League and was appointed in November 2023.

During his career, Obua played for police FC, Raleigh Capital Express, Wilmington Hammerheads FC to mention but a few. Obua also represented Uganda at an international level, represented the Uganda National team and holds a record of being the Country’s all time goal scorer record in the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup qualifiers.

 

3. Joseph Kizito

Joseph Kizito a Ugandan former professional footballer who plays as defender where by he represented Uganda at international level from 2001 to 2011 after earning 39 caps to his name.

 

4. Ibrahim Sekagya

Born 19th December 1980 in Kawempe Kampala, Ibrahim Sekagya is a Ugandan former footballer who always played as a centre back. He is currently the head coach for New York Red Bulls II of MLS Next Pro.

 

5. Robert Sejemba

Born on 5th December, he is a Ugandan retired professional soccer player and the current coach of the Wayland Baptist University men’s soccer program.

 

6. Geofrey Massa

Born in Jinja, he begun his career in 2004 with Police FC in the Ugandan Premier League before moving to Egypt in Al Masry Club in 2005.

Geofrey Massa is Ugandan professional footballer who plays as a forward.
