There are a number of factors that determine the quality and capability of most schools in Uganda including the school’s facilities, services and more so the quality of education the school offers.
It should however be noted that with all these factors constant, for a student to attend the best schools in the country, it also indirectly depends on the qualities of their families especially when it comes to tuition and other expenses.
Most of these schools being International or Private schools, below are some of the top 10 Elite most expensive schools in the country.
1. International School Of Uganda
Located in the outskirts of Kampala, the International School of Uganda is about 5 kilometers from lake Victoria in a suburban setting in Lubowa district.
It is an international school which serves students ages 3 through 19. The school was established in 1967 and is authorized to offer three International Baccalaureate programs, accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools plus the council of International Schools.
With an annual fee ranging from Ugx 24,043,224 to 102,461,123, the school offers an International Education Program for its students. Among its facilities, the school comprises three computer laboratories with internet access and campus-wide wireless connectivity, four fully equipped science laboratories, a school library with 20,000 volumes, a school truck, two sports fields, and two swimming pools, among other amenities.
The school has a total student population of about 615, representing 60 different nationalities, with a local-to-international student ratio of 18% to 82%. As one of the most expensive schools in Uganda, it stands alongside other prestigious institutions that offer high-quality education with modern facilities, such as Kabojja International School, Kings College Budo, Galaxy International School Uganda, Turkish Light Academy, and Vienna College Namugongo. These schools are known for their academic excellence, diverse student bodies, and world-class learning environments, making them some of the most sought-after institutions in the country.
2. Kampala International School(KISU)
Located in the neighborhood of Kampala, Bukoto in Kampala, Kampala International School is an international school that was formerly known as Kabira International School of Uganda. The school was established in 1993 as a small primary school with a curriculum based on the National Curriculum for England, offering a well-rounded international education to students from 2 to 18 years, with English as its main subject.
Kampala International School has a total population of 600 pupils and an average of around 20 students per class. The school is one of the most expensive schools in Uganda, ranking among the top institutions with annual fees ranging from Ugshs 14,980,778 to 95,285,145. It stands alongside other elite schools in the country, known for their high academic standards, world-class facilities, and diverse student communities.
3. Galaxy International School Uganda
An International school in Uganda with approximately 495 students and 80 teaching stuff members with recruits approximately 5 teachers from overseas every year.
The school has operated since 2012 with an annual fees ranging from 16,608,319 to 44,757,386. Supported by modern in an environment conducive to learning, studying at the school is highly valuable.
Galaxy International School provided education to students from 2 to 19 years of age and also has several school clubs including swimming, sports, music dance and drama among others. It provides 5% discount of school fees to parents with more than one students and same applies to parents who pay fees for the whole year.
4. L’Ecole Francaise Les Grands Lacs
Running on a French curriculum, the French international school is located in the city skirt of Lugogo next t Kati Kati. The school directly teaches until Troisieme and uses the National Centre for Distance Education.
L’Ecole Francaise Les Grands Lacs is part of the French Agency for education abroad (AECE) which is a unique international network in the world consisting of 492 schools in more than 130 countries and represented by the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs of the French Embassy.
With an annual fees  ranging from Ushs15,964,612 to Ugshs30,523,100,the language of instruction at the school is mainly English and French and therefore due to it’s foreign affiliation with the French government, it is one of the most expensive schools in Uganda.

5.Vienna College Namugongo
The school commenced on February 1999 as a result of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the President of Uganda inviting Austrians to invest in the country’s education sector.
Vienna College Namugongo is also a private co -education institution which opened its doors to international students in the early 2000. With a total of over 400 students, the school operates under a  British curriculum of Cambridge International Examination syllabus and it is currently the largest Cambridge School in Uganda.
With fees ranging from Ugshs12,095,719 to Ugshs24,424,345Ugshs, the school recruits students from ages 11 to 18. It has a well equipped laboratory,an airy dining area basketball court all summed up in luxury.
6. Aga Khan High School
The Aga Khan Educational services operate more than 200 schools and educational programs. It was established in Uganda in the early 1930s in 20 villages and towns including Mbarara, Masaka, Mbale and Jinja.
Aga Khan High School was particularly established in 1959 in Old Kampala as the first multi cultural school in Uganda. The school is deprived of two sections with a total population of 1500 students and the international section accounts of 500 students and thus playing a unique educational role in the country.
Its fees ranges from Ugshs18,408,600 to Ugsh25,956,00 annually with a large full sized pitch for soccer, cricket, rugby and other sports activities.
7. Kings International School
A pre and primary school located in Muyenga Kampala, which also runs under the Cambridge system. It was established in 2007 and has over the years been providing an excellent British Curriculum.
With an annual fees range of Ugshs7,212,969 to Ugshs20,529,214, this international school recruits students from ages 2 to 14years and provides an exceptional conducive environment.
Despite the expenses, the above listed Schools are worth it all since they carry and portray high, exclusive and exceptional Educational standards and welfare provided to the students.
