Former media personality Straka Mwezi alias Straka Baibe is currently seeking refuge after being evicted from her home and having all her property confiscated by her landlord.
The eviction followed Straka’s failure to pay rent arrears amounting to millions of shillings for more than five months at her rented house in Kiwanga, Seeta.
Reports indicate that Straka and her family disappeared in the late night, leaving all their belongings behind.
In response, the angry landlord seized her property and took it to a nearby police station, hoping to recover the owed rent in captured video that has been circulating on social media.
Straka has previously faced similar issues with unpaid rent. In 2014 and 2015, she made headlines for reportedly failing to clear rent arrears in Bweyogerere and Makindye.
Straka Mwezi is a well-known figure in Uganda’s media industry, having worked with former Naguru-based WBS TV, Delta TV, Beat FM, and Moon TV. She also worked as an emcee at various bars.
Straka has yet to comment on the situation, but we will keep you updated when she addresses the allegations.
