Popular Ugandan band singer Sophie Nantongo has been accused of unlawfully handling family land situated in Kibuye, Kampala.
The allegations come from a man identified as Mr. Kawuki, who claims to be Nantongo’s brother. He says that ongoing activities on the property are illegal and that the singer has allegedly been selling portions of the land without the knowledge or consent of other family members.
“I had long suspected Sophie was secretly selling off parts of our family land. What’s happening now only confirms those suspicions,” Kawuki told reporters.
The disputed land is said to be jointly owned by the family, with no formal agreement in place to authorize any sale. Kawuki is now urging the authorities to step in and thoroughly investigate the matter.
Sophie Nantongo has yet to comment on the accusations. Attempts to reach her for a statement have so far been unsuccessful.
The controversy has drawn attention on social media, with fans and the public calling for accountability and a peaceful resolution within the family.
