The police in Aswa West have responded to the accident which Claimed three people today at around Karuma check point along Gulu- Kampala high way in Nwoya.
The accident involved Motor Vehicle bReg No .SSD 770CK , Toyota Hiace sliver in colour and another Motor Vehicle Reg.No UBG 085C Isuzu Bus belonging to Nilestar Bus Company.
Brief facts indicate that, the motor vehicle reg. No. SSD 770CK Toyota Hiace was coming from Kampala direction facing Gulu and heading to Juba, as it approached half a kilometer to Karuma checkpoint, it over took another vehicle and met with a Nile star bus that was from the opposite direction heading to Kampala and ended up smashing the passengers’ side of Hiace killing and injuring some of its passengers on board.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to reckless driving by the driver of motor vehicle reg. No. SSD 770CK Toyota Hiace.
The traffic police visited the scene and documented, bodies taken to Anaka hospital for postmortem while the injured have been rushed to RG Health facility within Karuma town council.
Meanwhile, the injured persons have been identified as; Ramathan Shaban and another unidentified person who was rushed to unknown health facility. And the deceased persons as; Aisha Namatovu and two yet to be identified bodies
PRO Aswa West , ASP Ongom David Mudong says no arrests have been made since both drivers are still on the run.
