This morning, a fatal accident which claimed four ( 4) people occured involving a Toyota Rumion carrying students from Buganda Royal Institute and stationary soda truck.
The incident happened at Musinde on Garuga road ,Katabi town council , Wakiso District.
Sadly four students have tragically lost their lives in this incident and other two students sustained serious injuries and have been promptly transported to Kisubi Hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to witness, the incident occurred when the Toyota Rumion driver, transporting the students to beach gathering collided with stationary soda truck.
Police revealed that the driver of the vehicle , carrying the students attempted to overtake another vehicle, resulting in the collision with the truck.
The driver, also a student from Buganda Royal Institute, allegedly engaged in speeding along with a Toyota Hiace (drone) trailing behind. The attempt to overtake in a precarious corner led to the tragic collision with the stationary Fuso truck loaded with soda, claiming the lives of four students on the spot.
As investigations unfold, authorities have transferred the bodies of the deceased to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations. Michael Kananura, spokesperson for the traffic police, provided these details while emphasizing ongoing efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding the accident.
