Dancehall artist Ziza Bafana has spoken out after facing backlash from National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters following his appearance at the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) event, which marked the launch of the Yoweri music album in support of President Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Ziza Bafana, a self-declared supporter of NUP, clarified that his attendance at the event was not politically motivated. Instead, he said, it was a gesture rooted in respect and longstanding friendship within the music industry.

“The event was meant to engage and inform artists,We chose some leaders among ourselves, and Eddy Kenzo is one of them. While I may not always agree with his choices, he’s a fellow musician and someone I started out with. Kenzo was the first person to take me to Club Vault and once even gave me a shirt. Our friendship goes beyond politics.”Bafana explained.

Bafana noted that he attended the event after receiving a personal invitation from Kenzo, especially following his recent public criticisms of the federation.

“Kenzo called and invited me,When I got there, I saw red carpets and artists dressed in yellow, and I realized this wasn’t really my space.”Bafana said.
