Controversial Ugandan musician Alien Skin and 6 members of his Fangone Forest crew were on Friday briefly detained by military police in a fast-unfolding incident that has since stirred public debate.
The singer and his crew were intercepted by military police near Wankulukuku Stadium shortly after a performance at Kitebi Secondary School. They were subsequently taken into custody and held at Nateete Police Station.

By press time, authorities had not released an official statement explaining the exact circumstances surrounding the arrest.
However, the dramatic arrest is believed to be linked to a circulating video allegedly showing members of the Fangone Forest crew forcing soldiers to salute an act that has triggered widespread criticism and raised questions about discipline and respect toward the military.
The incident also adds to Alien Skin’s growing list of clashes with law enforcement, further cementing his reputation as one of Uganda’s most polarizing music figures.

In a surprising twist, the detention was short-lived. Alien Skin and his crew were released just hours later following reported intervention by Commissioner Hellen Seku.
They were subsequently freed from custody in Wankulukuku, bringing a rapid end to the tense episode.
The incident has since ignited mixed reactions online. While some Ugandans have questioned the military’s role in the arrest, others are speculating about deeper motives behind the operation.

With no official explanation yet, the brief detention has only intensified scrutiny around Alien Skin and his increasingly controversial public persona.
