Media personality Robin Kisti has responded angrily to rapper GNL Zamba after he named her among Ugandan celebrities who allegedly lost their way due to drug abuse.
During a recent episode of his podcast, GNL Zamba discussed drug use among artists in Uganda.
He cited examples including Qute Kaye, Rocky Giant, and Robin Kisti, warning young musicians to steer clear of drugs or risk ending up like them.
Although Kisti admitted she hadn’t watched the full podcast, she was alerted to the remarks by a close friend who shared a clip.
She believes GNL’s comments stem from her recent legal troubles, which saw her briefly jailed in Luzira. Initial reports had linked her arrest to drug possession, but police later clarified that the charges were related to an assault on her neighbor—not drugs.
“They only saw videos of me being taken by police, obviously when you’re taken early in the morning, you don’t look your best. I was in my nightwear, with messy hair, and people jumped to conclusions.”,she explained.
Frustrated by the public insinuations, Kisti accused GNL Zamba of using her name to attract attention to his podcast. She criticized him for speaking without verifying facts and cautioned him against dragging her into narratives that don’t reflect her truth.
“If he wanted clickbait, he shouldn’t have used my name.As someone who’s lived abroad, he should understand that proper journalism involves research. How can he lump me in with Qute Kaye and Rocky Giant just because he heard I smoke weed?”Kisti said.
Kisti made it clear that she won’t tolerate being misrepresented, and urged GNL to be more responsible with his platform.
