Reign Omusoyisoyi, known for his role in the comedy duo Maulana and Reign and now an aspiring politician, has responded to circulating rumors linking him romantically to Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende.
Reign, whose real name is Obed Lubega, was recently spotted at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Kavule, where he was undergoing vetting for the Rubaga South MP position.
During the process, he was seen in close proximity to Shamim Malende, which fueled speculation about a possible romantic relationship between the two rumors that intensified following the high-profile end of Malende’s marriage to Andrew Ssebunya.
When asked about the alleged relationship, Reign appeared hesitant but maintained a composed stance. He acknowledged knowing MP Malende but refused to delve into personal details, urging the media to stay focused on the political process at hand.
“I appreciate your concern, but at this point, we are handling the vetting process to determine who will carry the NUP flag. Let’s focus on that for now. I know Shamim Malende as a Member of Parliament, and I’ll make time to address that issue later. Right now, our focus is on the vetting.”told journalists.
He assured the media that once the vetting and election-related matters are behind him, he will speak more openly about the rumors.
