A 35-year-old maid, Precious Tumuhirwe, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the brutal torture of a 4-year-old girl, an incident that was captured on video and went viral.
The attack took place in Kikoko Zone, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, on December 27, 2024.
The disturbing footage sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many demanding a life sentence for the perpetrator.
Precious Tumuhirwe was arrested in Kabale District on December 29 and transferred to Kampala the following day.
She was detained at Kira Police Station until her court appearance today. In Kira Magistrates Court, before Chief Magistrate Shallon Niwaha, she pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated torture.
Tumuhirwe was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 40 years in prison for her actions.
