Renowned media personality and events emcee Edwin Katamba, better known as MC Kats, has fired back at Sheilah Gashumba after she implied he should step aside from television to give younger talent a chance.
While speaking on Kasuku Live, Sheilah hinted that MC Kats’ era was over, suggesting it was time for the spotlight to shift to the next generation. Her remarks were widely seen as a subtle jab at Kats, and her financial lifestyle quickly became part of the conversation.
In a fiery response, MC Kats called out Sheilah for presenting a glamorized image of success without offering transparency about her income, especially to impressionable Gen Z followers.
“She’s been misleading the youth for too long. They look up to her and think that’s how life works,” Kats stated.
He urged her to openly share what she actually does for a living, questioning the message being sent to young people trying to navigate life in a tough economy.
“We admired people who were successful and honest about how they made their money. Now it’s all about influencers selling false dreams,” he added.
Kats also criticized the trend of showcasing extravagant lifestyles without context, warning that it creates false expectations for ordinary youth.
“No one earning a normal salary in Kampala is changing hairstyles every week or blowing money in clubs like that,” MC Kats said.
