Joshua Baraka’s mother has finally broken her silence on her son’s much-publicised romance with media personality and deejay Etania Mutoni, revealing that despite their two-year relationship, she has never been introduced to Etania officially.
Speaking to journalists during Baraka’s recently concluded concert in Kampala, the soft-spoken mother said she has only heard good things about Etania from the media and the internet.
“All I know about Etania is that she is a good girl. I hope I will also appreciate her when Joshua finally introduces her to the family formally,” she said.
For years, netizens have hyped Baraka and Etania’s relationship, praising their chemistry and predicting wedding bells. But Mama Baraka’s revelation suggests the couple may not be as close to the altar as fans have assumed.
During the same interaction, Baraka’s mother also addressed the long-running confusion surrounding the singer’s nationality.
She explained that Baraka’s father’s grandparents originally moved from Kenya to Uganda, while she is Rwandese by descent but was born and raised in Uganda just like Baraka’s father.
She emphasized that Joshua Baraka is fully Ugandan, despite the mixed East African roots.
She also dismissed claims that the ‘Nana’ hitmaker grew up in a privileged or carefully planned background.
She described their household as a simple, average family that never expected Baraka’s rise to international fame.
“When God has blessed you, nothing can stop you from soaring higher,” she said with pride.
