In a statement to the media, Joel Ssenyonyi explained that doctors have advised limiting visitors to reduce the risk of infection, given the MP’s fragile condition.

“His health has worsened over the past few days. This morning, the medical team informed his mother that Ssegirinya is brain dead and that all his organs have ceased functioning. However, there is a faint pulse, which is being sustained through life support.”,Joel said.

The medical team, led by Acting Executive Director Dr. Grace, informed Ssenyonyi and other leaders that, while there is no medical hope for recovery, they cannot officially declare him deceased due to the ongoing faint pulse.

“It would be unethical to declare him dead at this stage,” Ssenyonyi explained, despite the grim prognosis.

Ssenyonyi urged Ugandans, especially those in Kawempe North, to keep Ssegirinya in their prayers during this critical moment.

“While the doctors cannot offer hope, they’ve reminded us that miracles are still possible. Let us continue to pray,” he said.

Ssegirinya, who has been in and out of intensive care, was initially admitted to Rubaga Hospital in critical condition several days ago. Despite efforts to stabilize him, his condition has not improved.

The Opposition has promised to keep the public informed about any changes in his health. Meanwhile, the hospital management is collaborating closely with the family and political leaders to manage the situation.
