Ms Jolly Kateregga, the estranged wife of Kampala University founder prof. Badru Kateregga has strongly denied claims linking her to an alleged secret affair with the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo, describing the reports as false, malicious and dangerous.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 22, Jolly Shubaiha Kateregga said she has never met, spoken to, or had any form of relationship with the senior police officer, despite rumours circulating widely on social media.

“I wish to categorically and unequivocally refute these false and malicious allegations,I have never met AIGP Tom Magambo at any time or place, and I have no personal, professional or business relationship with him whatsoever.” ,Jolly said.
Jolly said the claims were deliberately intended to damage her name and unfairly drag a senior public official into a private family dispute.
She warned that such misinformation goes beyond personal attacks and risks eroding public trust in state institutions.

“These falsehoods are not only damaging to my reputation but also unfairly directed at a senior public servant carrying out his duties,” she said.
Her statement comes a day after police issued a clarification distancing AIGP Magambo and the CID from the Katereggas’ long-running domestic and property dispute.
In a July 25, 2025 press release, police said the matter was reported on November 7, 2024, investigated, and later referred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
According to police, the ODPP advised on February 18, 2025, that the dispute is civil in nature, rooted in property ownership and management, and should be handled by a civil court.
Police also dismissed claims that they had powers to evict Jolly from any property, saying such action can only be taken through a court order.

Jolly reminded the public that her dispute with her estranged husband, Kampala University founder Prof. Badru Kateregga, is already before a competent court.
“I respectfully urge the public and the media to allow the judicial process to take its course rather than engage in speculation,” she said.
She also warned that she may take legal action against individuals or platforms that continue to spread the allegations.
The couple’s fallout became public in 2024 after Prof. Kateregga accused Jolly of assault and attempting to take control of his property and Kampala University. Jolly has consistently denied the claims, saying they are meant to push her out of institutions she helped stabilise financially.
As the legal battle continues, Jolly says she will no longer stay silent as unrelated accusations pile up.
“I urge media houses and the public to verify information and stop spreading harmful claims,” she said.
For now, she insists, the truth belongs in court not on social media timelines. Stay tuned for more updates as drama unflods.
