Singer Omulangira Suuna has addressed the concerns raised by General Salim Saleh regarding the influx of musicians to Gulu, clarifying that his visit is not related to his music career but instead focused on matters concerning Operation Wealth Creation.
Suuna explained that he has projects in need of support and that his trip to Gulu is as a concerned Ugandan with ideas, not as a musician. He noted that although General Saleh, the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, has offices in Kamwokya, it is often difficult to meet him there, which is why many people seeking his help choose to travel to Gulu. Suuna himself followed suit, believing that Gulu is the best place to connect with General Saleh for support.
The singer also pointed out that many individuals who have visited Gulu have successfully received assistance for their initiatives.
On General Saleh’s suggestion that musicians should approach Eddy Kenzo, the President of the Uganda Musicians Federation, Suuna clarified that Kenzo is not the right person to approach for support related to Operation Wealth Creation. He emphasized that his proposals are specific to the operation and can only be assisted by General Saleh, who is directly involved in the initiative.
Suuna further stated that any Ugandan has the right to visit Gulu and meet General Saleh, as he serves the entire nation. He expressed disappointment over Full Figure’s recent comment, where she referred to those seeking assistance in Gulu as “dead bodies.” Suuna deemed this comment inappropriate and unnecessary, especially since Full Figure herself, along with some TikTokers, had visited Gulu recently and received funding for their own projects.
He questioned why Full Figure would oppose others seeking similar assistance, especially when every Ugandan is entitled to approach government officials with ideas relevant to their work.
In conclusion, Omulangira Suuna reaffirmed that his visit to Gulu is entirely focused on his proposals for Operation Wealth Creation, not on advancing his music career, and stressed that this is his first time visiting Gulu to meet General Saleh.
