Retired General and Second Deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali has been officially nominated to contest in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries without leaving the comfort of his car.
Gen. Ali is vying for the East Moyo County parliamentary seat in Adjumani District. In a similarly high-profile nomination, Third Deputy Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama has also been cleared to run for the Mayuge District Woman MP seat.
The nomination event took an unusual turn when NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, personally announced Gen. Ali’s nomination while the veteran politician remained seated in his vehicle.
“On behalf of the commission, I hereby nominate Gen. Moses Ali for the Adjumani West Constituency in Adjumani District. Congratulations,” declared Dr. Odoi.
NRM officials confirmed that all necessary legal procedures were followed and that Gen. Ali’s nomination was fully compliant with party regulations.

Both deputy prime ministers are among several senior NRM leaders seeking to retain their political positions as the party prepares for the 2026 general elections.
These nominations are part of the NRM’s internal primaries to select its official candidates for next year’s national vote.
