Eddy Kenzo, President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has committed to supporting singer Kemi Sera as she works to rebuild her life and return home from South Africa.
Kemi Sera’s situation came to light after a heartfelt video of her pleading for help went viral on social media.
In the video, she tearfully explained that she had been shot at and robbed of all her possessions while in South Africa, leaving her stranded and vulnerable.
She shared the painful story of how a man she had been romantically involved with convinced her to move to South Africa with promises of a better life. However, after her relocation, the man disappeared with her passport, identification, and all her money.
Left with no resources and nowhere to turn, Kemi reached out to her former friend and fellow artist, Mary Bata, despite their past disagreements.
Mary Bata offered some financial support, but before Kemi could stabilize her situation, she was robbed again, forcing her to use the remaining funds for medical expenses.

Moved by Kemi’s plight, Eddy Kenzo vowed to take action. He pledged to work closely with Mary Bata to gather a detailed report on Kemi’s condition and promised to ensure that the UNMF would prioritize her case, recognizing her positive impact on the music industry and ensuring she receives the help she needs to return to Uganda.
