Renowned singer and presidential advisor Catherine Kusasira is under pressure from money lenders after failing to settle a debt of Shs210 million.
According to the money lenders, Kusasira secured the loan by using her Toyota Land Cruiser V8 (registration number UBF 610S) as collateral.
The vehicle was a personal gift from President Yoweri Museveni, was meant to guarantee repayment.
However, after defaulting on the loan, the lenders attempted to sell the car to recover their money. Their efforts were blocked due to a caveat placed on the vehicle, preventing its transfer of ownership.
Unlike other state-issued vehicles, Kusasira’s car was a personal gift from the president, which is why it is registered in her name.

When reached for comment, Kusasira acknowledged her financial difficulties and pleaded for an extension of the repayment period.
Catherine Kusasira remains hopeful that President Museveni will offer financial assistance to help her clear the debt.
This situation has sparked discussions on the financial responsibility of beneficiaries of presidential gifts and how such donations are managed.
For now, Kusasira awaits further support to settle her debt and regain full control of her vehicle.
