Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has claimed that his chief bodyguard, Edward Ssebufu popularly known as Eddie Mutwe was subjected to severe torture while in state custody.
Following a visit to Masaka Government Prison, where Mutwe is currently being held, Bobi Wine addressed the media on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by the Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, NUP Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya, party MPs, lawyers, and members of Mutwe’s family.
According to Bobi Wine, Mutwe is in a dire physical state, with fresh wounds allegedly sustained from days of torture. “He is in a very terrible condition he’s rotting away,” the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader told reporters.
Kyagulanyi shared disturbing details reportedly recounted by Mutwe during the prison visit. He alleged that Mutwe was tortured over a period of two days, and that on the third day, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba personally observed the abuse.

“He told me he was stripped naked and electrocuted. He was forced to salute a portrait of President Museveni daily and at one point was made to wear a T-shirt bearing the President’s image while being taught Runyankore,” Bobi Wine said.
He added that should Mutwe survive the ordeal, he would eventually tell his own story in full.
Mutwe was allegedly abducted last week before being presented in Masaka High Court on Monday. He faces multiple charges, including robbery, assault, and malicious damage to property, and has been remanded until May 25.
NUP’s legal team, led by lawyer George Musisi, announced plans to challenge the charges. They intend to file a petition under the Human Rights Enforcement Act, arguing that the state’s actions—including the alleged torture violate Mutwe’s constitutional rights.
