Ugandan singer Zani Lady C, who has been pursuing her music career in the U.S. for the past 15 years, has submitted her latest single, “Komawo,” for consideration at the 67th Grammy Awards.

While not yet officially nominated, her song is being considered for a chance at a Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category.

Released just a month ago, “Komawo” has been gaining attention on Ugandan TV, radio, and streaming platforms. In response to the news of her Grammy submission, Zani Lady C took to social media to encourage her global fanbase to support and promote the song, hoping to secure a nomination for the prestigious award.

If her submission leads to a nomination, Zani Lady C would follow in the footsteps of fellow Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo, who was nominated in the 65th Grammy Awards in the Best Global Music Performance category.

Kenzo’s collaboration, “Gimme Love,” with American singer Matt B, was nominated alongside other global artists like Arooj Aftab, Burna Boy, and South African stars Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode. Ultimately, the Grammy went to the South African trio.

The Grammy Awards process, as explained by the Recording Academy, involves submitting eligible work for consideration, after which it is reviewed and voted on by members. From these votes, the final nominations are decided. While submitting an entry is a significant step, being officially nominated is the true mark of recognition.

The 67th Grammy Awards will take place on February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with the nominations being announced on November 8, 2024.
