Former Golden Band singer Catherine Kusasira, has officially announced her intention to run for the Buikwe Woman Member of Parliament seat in the forthcoming 2026 general elections.
The position is currently held by Diana Nankunda, a National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate and Cabinet Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President.
Kusasira shared the news on her Facebook account, posting a campaign poster with the caption, “God see me through 2026-2031 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏.. For all my campaign schedules check out with Ritah Kaggwa Blog and Lilly Kissy Klapwijk 👌.” She confirmed that she will be running on the NRM party ticket.
Kusasira has been actively involved in politics for several years, notably campaigning for President Museveni during the 2021 elections. In 2019, she was appointed a presidential advisor on Kampala Affairs. Since then, she has been working on recruiting young members for the NRM in the slum areas.
