Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo and Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson have been appointed to two of FIFA’s prestigious committees.
Magogo, who has led FUFA since 2013, joins the FIFA Football Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee, chaired by Iceland’s Thorvaldur Orlygsson.
The committee focuses on advancing football through cutting-edge technology and digital solutions that enhance the sport’s efficiency, integrity, and fan engagement worldwide.
Meanwhile, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson Suubi, who has served as the federation’s top administrator since 2007, has been named to the FIFA Technical Development Committee.
This body, chaired by Georgia’s Levan Kobiashvili, oversees global efforts to promote technical advancement, improve coaching standards, and foster player development.
The dual appointments mark a major milestone for Ugandan football leadership, highlighting the growing international recognition of FUFA’s top executives.
However, the news comes amid ongoing debate in Uganda over FUFA’s proposed changes to the Uganda Premier League format, a move that has drawn mixed reactions from clubs and fans.
Despite the domestic controversy, Magogo’s and Watson’s FIFA appointments underscore their expanding influence in global football governance.
Both officials are expected to assume their new roles immediately, working alongside representatives from more than 20 countries.
