The case involving singer Fik Gaza has taken a new twist, as police have announced additional charges against the artist.

Fik Gaza, along with his co-accused are  in detention at Katwe Police Station, awaiting further investigation and legal proceedings.

Fik Gaza, who was arrested last Thursday during a police operation at his home in Makindye, was initially charged with aggravated robbery. However, after consulting with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the charge was revised to simple robbery.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango addressed the media on Monday , confirming that the updated charge followed the DPP’s directive, and the case file has been amended accordingly.

Onyango further clarified that while the suspects were initially scheduled to appear in court last Friday, the change in charges required additional processing.

In a new development, Onyango revealed that Fik Gaza and his co-accused now face additional charges of aggravated robbery. This comes after a new file from Wakiso Police surfaced.

“There is a new file from Wakiso Police, and it involves aggravated robbery,” Onyango explained.

He added that Wakiso detectives had requested that Gaza and his co-accused remain in custody at Katwe Police Station until they can provide their statements.

The concern is that if the simple robbery charge remains, Gaza could be granted bail before the aggravated robbery investigation is complete.

The police spokesperson confirmed that Gaza and his co-accused could be brought before the court either today or tomorrow, depending on when Wakiso detectives arrive to take their statements.

Onyango assured the public that the delay in court proceedings is not an attempt to delay justice but a necessary step due to the new charges.

Fik Gaza has vehemently denied the robbery accusations, claiming his arrest is part of a conspiracy to damage his career. He has publicly asserted on social media that the charges are false and fabricated by individuals with an agenda to tarnish his reputation.

The case has grown more complex with the involvement of one of Gaza’s co-accused, Charles Zziwa, also known as Muzungu. In addition to the robbery charges, Zziwa is now facing murder charges and is wanted for escaping lawful custody after being taken for medical treatment.
