Balaam Accuses NUP of Plotting Ballot Stuffing in Kawempe North By-Election

Balaam Barugahara, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs has alleged that security forces intercepted 30,000 pre-marked ballots intended to rig the Kawempe North by-election.

While visiting a polling station in Kawempe, Barugahara claimed that the National Unity Platform (NUP) was behind the plot to manipulate the election.

“We discovered that NUP had printed pre-ticked ballots with the intent to stuff them into the boxes. This is why we spent the night here to ensure transparency.”,he stated.

Despite the allegations, he reassured the public that the electoral process was running smoothly and without any irregularities.

“The ballot boxes arrived intact, with no signs of tampering. They were unsealed in front of all the candidate agents, and voting is proceeding peacefully at Mbogo Polling Station,” he added.

Barugahara expressed confidence that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, Faridah Nambi, would emerge victorious, highlighting the party’s thorough voter mobilisation efforts.

“This time, NRM will win fairly. Even in 2021, the late Muhammad Ssegirinya did not win by a large margin. We canvassed door to door to gather votes, and President Museveni personally campaigned for Nambi.”,he expressed.

Further Barugahara urged young people to avoid engaging in election-related violence.
