Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has expressed relief following the release of his elder brother and NUP Head of Mobilization, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu. Nyanzi was dropped off near his home after spending four days in detention.

Nyanzi had gone missing for several days, with reports suggesting he was held incommunicado.

He was abducted shortly after attending a meeting at the NUP headquarters in Kavule, and it was believed that he was being detained by the Directorate of Crime Intelligence.

This incident follows a troubling pattern of abductions involving NUP members, where individuals are detained without clear charges and later released in undisclosed locations.

Bobi Wine confirmed his brother’s return on Twitter, voicing his relief and condemning the alleged torture Nyanzi endured during his detention.

“After 4 days of incommunicado detention and torture, our Head of Mobilization Chairman Fred Nyanzi has been driven from CMI torture chambers and dumped near his home! Thank you all for raising your voices. KEEP THE PRESSURE ON. FREE UGANDA.” – Bobi Wine tweeted.
