Singer and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo has taken a swipe at fellow artist-turned-politician Bobi Wine, questioning his long-used slogan that “Uganda is bleeding.”
Speaking candidly in recent interview , Kenzo argued that the message Bobi Wine often delivers on international platforms does not match his own life journey.

He noted that Bobi Wine rose from the ghetto to become a celebrated musician, educated leader, wealthy businessman, and family man all during President Yoweri Museveni’s time in power.
According to Kenzo, those milestones were achieved neither during the regimes of Idi Amin nor Milton Obote, but in the current era Bobi Wine now criticizes. He wondered how someone who succeeded within the same system could dismiss it entirely as broken.
“A child only sees the rain from where they are standing,” Kenzo remarked, stressing that people experience life differently depending on opportunity and effort.
The BET Award winner said he respects Bobi Wine’s personal views but insisted that facts should not be ignored. He compared Uganda to countries such as Somalia, DR Congo, Sudan, and Libya, where insecurity has denied many talented people the chance to thrive.

Kenzo pointed out that those countries have artists as gifted as Bobi Wine, but war and instability make success nearly impossible. He cited Bobi Wine’s investments including One Love Beach in Busabala, Ssemakokiro Plaza in Kamwokya, and his Magere residence as achievements that would be unthinkable in conflict zones.
Kenzo ended by urging Ugandans to criticize responsibly, saying that while the country faces challenges, it still provides room for growth, success, and ambition.
