The Uganda’s U20 ( Hippos) may not have achieved their target of winning gold medal in the men’s football tournament at the African Games in Accra , after a 1-0 defeat to host Ghana in the finals on Friday evening at the University of Ghana Stadium but team managed the highest – ever finish for Uganda in the history of African games .
Before the showdown ,Uganda’s best ever finish had been fourth which reached at in 1999 in South Africa.
Meanwhile ,on the evening in Accra ,the Hippos had multiple opportunities to win it but each of Bruno Bunyaga, Abasi Kyeyune and Usama Arafat Kizza failed to convert.
Afiriye then Capitalized on the poor communication in defence to strike past Hippos goalkeeper Abdu Magada.
Jerry Afiriye struck late for young Black satellites ( Ghana) to help them to secure a Gold medal as the Uganda Hippos settled for Sliver.
With Ghana and Uganda clinching gold and silver , respectively ,Sengal smiled to bronze medal after comfortably beating Congo 2-0.
