The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially nominated Uganda’s national team, the Uganda Cranes, for the 2024 CAF National Team of the Year Award.
The announcement, made Thursday on X (formerly Twitter), recognizes the Cranes’ recent impressive performances in continental competitions.
Uganda will be up against other strong contenders for the award, including Angola, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Morocco, Mozambique, South Africa, and Sudan. These teams have all demonstrated exceptional skill and consistency, setting the stage for a highly competitive contest.
The winners will be unveiled on December 16, 2024, at a grand ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco, marking the third consecutive year that the event is held in the vibrant city.
This annual CAF Awards ceremony celebrates excellence across African football, from national team achievements to individual player awards.

One of the ceremony’s highlights will be the coveted CAF African Player of the Year award, with notable nominees including Achraf Hakimi (Morocco/Paris Saint-Germain), Edmond Tapsoba (Burkina Faso/Bayer Leverkusen), and Ademola Lookman (Nigeria/Atalanta).
Other awards to be presented include Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Club of the Year, which honor standout contributions from African football’s grassroots to its elite levels.
