The Uganda Cranes are just 90 minutes away from making history as they prepare to take on South Africa in a decisive African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group C clash tonight at 8 PM, under the lights of Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
A draw will be enough to send Uganda into the CHAN quarter-finals for the first time in their seven appearances at the tournament. But a win would not only confirm their place in the last eighit would also secure top spot in the group and ensure a return to Namboole for their quarter-final fixture.

Head coach Morley Byekwaso is adamant his team won’t settle for the bare minimum.
“South Africa are a quality side with a sharp attack, but we understand what’s at stake,We’ve worked too hard to get to this point just to aim for a draw. The defeat to Algeria hurt us, but it made us stronger. The way we’ve responded shows this team is ready to make history.”Byekwaso said during Sunday’s pre-match press conference.
Uganda currently leads Group C with six points from three matches, having bounced back from a heavy 3-0 loss to Algeria in their opener with a dominant 3-0 win over Guinea and a clinical 2-0 victory against Niger.

However, they’ll be without key midfielder Joel Sserunjogi, who is suspended after accumulating two yellow cards.
“Losing Joel is unfortunate, but every player has their moment, I believe in the rest of the squad to step up. And I can’t say enough about our fans they’ve been phenomenal. We’ll need them louder than ever tonight.”Byekwaso noted.

Group C Permutations:
Uganda: A draw guarantees progression; a win secures top spot.
South Africa: Must win to qualify.
Algeria: Need a victory over Niger to have a chance.
Niger: Already eliminated, playing for pride.
With a buzzing home crowd behind them and everything on the line, tonight’s encounter is more than just a match it’s Uganda’s golden opportunity to finally break the group-stage barrier and carve their name into CHAN history.
