U.S.-based Ugandan businessman, Acram Gumisiriza has confessed in a leaked phone call that his ongoing divorce from Hajjat Kulthum is part of a calculated plan to secure American citizenship through a new partner.

He described the divorce as a “deal” he initiated two years ago to present himself as single and eligible to marry for immigration purposes.

“Hajjat is only speaking out because of media pressure. I’m not bothered, this situation benefits me because I’m aiming to get my papers. Yes, the divorce is happening, but in reality, we’re not truly separating  it’s just to draw attention.”,Acram said in the leaked audio.

Gumisiriza, who initially entered the U.S. as a married man, stated that the divorce was necessary to change his marital status officially and clear the way with immigration authorities.

He thanked the media for amplifying news of the separation, claiming it helped convince officials that he was now single.

“All my documents still show I’m married, and I need to change that. The media buzz actually worked in my favor. Once I marry this woman, I’ll get the papers. You’ll soon see wedding photos.”,he said.

However, Gumisiriza also admitted that the planned marriage would be a sham, asserting that he still loves Kulthum and doesn’t intend to end their relationship unless she chooses to move on.

“This marriage won’t be real. Kulthum is still my wife  that doesn’t change, unless she decides otherwise,” he added, before abruptly ending the call, saying his new partner had entered the room.

Kulthum recently announced the end of their marriage and confirmed that religious leaders were now involved in overseeing the divorce process.
