Socialite, social media influencer and DJ Sheilah Gashumba has sparked conversation online after expressing concern that the ongoing political campaigns could interfere with Uganda’s usual December enjoyment.
Sheilah, who made headlines last year with her massive “One Man One Bottle” event, posted on her X page wondering whether campaign season might water down the festive excitement Ugandans look forward to every year.

According to her, many artistes who normally headline December shows are currently occupied with political rallies leaving popular hangouts without their usual star performances. Bar owners and nightlife spots are already feeling the gap as the vibes seem to be dipping.
December is famously known as Uganda’s unofficial month of nonstop fun, especially when the basummer return ready to party like they’re making up for lost moments.
But this year, whispers of uncertainty after the elections have some people thinking twice about how deep to dig into their pockets.

Still, if there’s one thing Sheilah knows and all Ugandans agree it’s that Ugandans can never run out of reasons to celebrate.
Even if politics tries to steal the shine, someone will turn it into a theme night, complete with outfits inspired by their favourite candidates.
December fun may bend, but it will never break.
