Ugandan singer Sheebah Karungi has voiced her frustration over the country’s persistent power cuts, shortly after her return from nearly seven months abroad.

The former Team No Sleep (TNS) artist, who recently gave birth while in Canada, came back to Uganda over the weekend only to be met with a problem that’s long plagued the country frequent electricity blackouts.

Taking to social media, Sheebah didn’t hold back as she lamented the worsening state of power supply, especially since the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) took over from Umeme, which had managed electricity distribution for 25 years.

“Uganda, my motherland! .Sheebaholics, I missed you too. But what’s going on with the electricity, banange? Are we really meant to live in this kind of constant uncertainty? This has been happening since I was a child now I have a child of my own, and it’s still the same story!”,she wrote.

Her comments add to a growing chorus of public dissatisfaction with UEDCL’s performance. Many Ugandans have reported more frequent outages and unreliable service since the recent transition in management.
