Kisaka, Luyimbazi, and former Director of Public Health, Dr. Daniel Okello, were charged with negligence in connection with the incident, which led to court proceedings at the Kasangati Magistrates Court in October.

During the transition period, Frank Rusa Nyakana had served as the Acting Executive Director of KCCA for the past three months, ensuring continued operations as the city authority awaited new leadership.

Buzeki’s appointment marks a significant shift for KCCA as the authority works to address challenges in managing Uganda’s capital city.

Before her new role, Hajat Sharifah Buzeki served as the Commissioner for Human Resource Management at the Ministry of Public Service.

She is the third woman to hold the position of KCCA Executive Director, following Jennifer Musisi and Dorothy Kisaka.
