Police have confirmed the tragic death of Rajiv Ruparelia, son of renowned businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, following a fatal car crash at the Busabala Flyover in Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District.
According to a statement issued by Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura, the accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 1:54 AM.
The crash involved a Nissan GTR with registration number UAT 638L, which was traveling from Kajjansi toward Munyonyo. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver lost control after colliding with temporary pavements placed at the roundabout section of the flyover.
“The vehicle is reported to have overturned and caught fire shortly after the collision, resulting in the instant death of Mr. Rajiv Ruparelia,” Kananura said.
He added that while the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, a full investigation is underway and further details will be released as they become available.
