The National Unity Platform (NUP) led by Bobi Wine, has announced its readiness to sign a long-delayed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD), marking a shift from its earlier stance on the framework.
NUP had initially objected to being included under IPOD, arguing that the process lacked adequate consultation and that the party was being forced into a coalition structure against its will.
Despite NUP’s reservations, the government went ahead with other willing political parties, finalizing agreements and disbursing related funds leaving NUP outside the process.
After observing the progress and implementation of IPOD-supported projects, NUP formally wrote to the relevant authorities, protesting its exclusion and seeking inclusion in the framework.
The party has now confirmed its readiness to sign the MoU and fully participate in IPOD activities.
“We are now ready to proceed with signing the MoU and to work collaboratively with our partners. Our earlier concerns regarding IPOD have been resolved, and we believe this agreement will strengthen our shared political objectives.”said a senior NUP spokesperson.

Political analysts note that NUP’s decision likely stems from a recognition of the strategic advantages of participating in IPOD, including access to funding, coordination opportunities, and influence within opposition politics.
The forthcoming MoU is expected to outline frameworks for joint political activities, candidate coordination, and broader collaboration among member parties. Observers believe the move could enhance opposition unity and reinforce NUP’s institutional capacity.
Party leaders emphasized that the decision reflects NUP’s renewed commitment to dialogue, compromise, and a pragmatic pursuit of its long-term political goals
