Nsereko Moses , a former Kawempe North by-election contender, has revealed plans to challenge Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine for the presidency of the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Speaking in an interview with Sanyuka Television, Nsereko emphasized the temporary nature of leadership and expressed confidence in his ability to win the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“Forty years of Museveni’s rule is enough. Leaders come and go. Our party is founded on the principle of people power. My decision to run for the NUP presidency isn’t controversial, we live in a democracy, and the people will ultimately decide,” Nsereko said.

He added, “That’s why I’m standing against Kyagulanyi. If he wins, I’ll support him.”
Nsereko previously vied for the NUP flag in the Kawempe North by-election but lost to Elias Nalukoola, who eventually secured the seat.
Nsereko’s decision to run as an Independent against the party’s endorsed candidate stirred backlash, with some accusing him of breaching party regulations.
Despite the controversy, Nsereko Moses insists he remains a committed member of NUP.
“I still have my NUP membership card. I know this party inside out—better than you do,” he told the Sanyuka TV journalist.
