President Yoweri Museveni has swung into action after reports of chaos and unfairness in the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds in Kyenjojo District.

While campaigning in the area on Tuesday, Museveni revealed that some leaders were reportedly mishandling the money and giving it to their relatives instead of the intended beneficiaries like youth, women, and persons with disabilities.

“I’ve heard people are stealing PDM money. I will send my auditor, and I’ve directed Minister Raphael  Magyezi to sort this mess immediately,” the President told the crowd.

Museveni warned that anyone caught asking for kickbacks or mismanaging the funds would be arrested. He reminded locals that PDM money is for every Ugandan aged 18 and above ready to start wealth-creation projects.

The President also promised better roads, more electricity, and encouraged residents to embrace profitable farming ventures such as coffee, poultry, piggery, and fish farming.

District NRM Chairperson Nkonge Edward Rwamwaro later confirmed that Kyenjojo has already received Shs 51 billion across all parishes, saying the funds have boosted farmers and livestock keepers. He urged more youth and women to tap into the programme.

Rwamwaro also celebrated the district’s skilling hub, which has already produced over 170 graduates.
