Former Kawempe South MP Hon. Munyagwa Mubaraka has openly criticized singer Iryn Namubiru’s recently released memoir, My Mother Knows, dismissing it as unworthy of the praise it has received.

Speaking in an online interview, Munyagwa downplayed the value of the 300-page book, claiming it doesn’t justify the effort Namubiru says she put into writing it.

He went as far as describing the memoir as “full of trash,” accusing the singer of using it to unfairly attack her mother.

Namubiru’s book, launched a few weeks ago, chronicles her life in raw and emotional detail. It delves into her painful childhood, including accounts of abuse by her biological mother and stepfather, her experiences growing up in a troubled household, and betrayals by people she once trusted.

While many readers have praised the singer for her honesty and courage in sharing such deeply personal struggles, Munyagwa insisted the book is undeserving of the attention it has attracted.

His remarks have sparked widespread debate online, with the public divided over whether Namubiru’s revelations should be viewed as acts of bravery or disrespect.
