Reports coming in from Nairobi, Kenya indicate that Kampala Woman Member of Parliament, Shamim Malende has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Aga Khan Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Malende was rushed to the facility a few days ago after experiencing a serious medical episode at her home in Kampala.
Doctors have since recommended immediate surgery to address her condition which is expected to be done in a few hours today according to her caretaker at the hospital.
Sources allege that the legislator is battling severe stomach complications, with unconfirmed speculation suggesting possible poisoning by political adversaries. However, these claims remain unverified.
Malende has reportedly been struggling with health issues for over a year, receiving treatment in Uganda, Kenya, and parts of Europe. Despite these efforts, her condition has continued to decline.

She is currently serving her first term in Parliament, having been elected on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket during the 2021 general elections.
Meanwhile, several individuals, including activist Nana Mwafrika and Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, have shown interest in contesting her seat.
