Mezo Noir, a popular upscale lounge in Kololo, has quietly reopened just over a week after it temporarily shut down following the tragic death of 23-year-old Martha Ahumuza Murari.
On May 20, the management announced an abrupt closure, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” However, it was later linked to Martha’s death at the venue under unclear circumstances.
Although the establishment has not officially confirmed its reopening, several patrons and influencers have shared on social media that Mezo Noir is back in business.

Martha, a recent graduate, was rushed to Kampala Hospital in critical condition and later died, with police suspecting poisoning. Authorities are still investigating allegations that her drink may have been spiked at the lounge.
During a funeral service at All Saints Church in Kampala, her family shared heartbreaking details of her final moments. Her brother, Bryan, said doctors informed him that she had choked on vomit and suffered a brain hemorrhage. A family friend, Julie, who arrived at the hospital soon after, was told Martha was brain dead.
Her father, Seth Murari, refused to accept the initial diagnosis and insisted on a second opinion. He chose to keep her on life support until her mother, Barbra, could arrive from Dubai. Now, Seth is determined to seek justice for his daughter as investigations continues.
