Former Golden Band singer Mesach Semakula has officially confirmed that he plans to marry his long-time partner, Sarah Nakayi.

This announcement was made during a recent family gathering at his home, attended by close friends and prominent figures from the entertainment industry.

During the event, Mityana Bishop James Bukomeko pressed Semakula to share details about the much-anticipated wedding. The Bishop specifically addressed the delay in the wedding, highlighting the importance of formalizing the couple’s union.

“We want to give Mesach a wedding that befits him,” the Bishop said, calling on events promoter Abitex to organize the celebration on a grand scale, akin to a music concert.

He further suggested that preparations should begin immediately, with the wedding expected to take place sometime next year.

In response, Semakula confirmed that wedding plans were already in motion but refrained from announcing a specific date.

He further  explained the delay by saying, “I’ve waited for a long time for many reasons. I didn’t want to marry while still at a crossroads.”

Semakula expressed confidence that the time had finally come, revealing that his brother had built a large five-acre garden specifically for the wedding.

“Now we have the venue. It’s going to be a grand event, almost like a public holiday,” he shared.

The singer also acknowledged the pressure from friends and fans who have been urging him to tie the knot.

While his initial plan was to marry at the age of 50, Semakula humorously noted that he had decided to bring the wedding forward to meet the expectations of those around him.

“My plan was to get married when I turn 50, but it seems you all are too eager to wait, so we’ll just go ahead and do it,” he joked.

Semakula and Nakayi have been together for over 20 years.
