Media personality MC Kats real name Edwin Katamba has once again shared his emotional journey of living with HIV, as the world marked World AIDS Day.
Speaking in a TV interview, the celebrated MC revealed that discovering his HIV status threw him into denial, causing him to ignore his medication for a long time. With time, he accepted his reality and began rebuilding his life.

Kats said that for years, rumours about his status swirled until he decided to publicly disclose it a bold move that unfortunately pushed him into depression.
He explained that the toughest part of going public was seeing his children and former partners become targets of criticism and stigma.
“I wanted to help people understand that life goes on… but the hardest part has been my children and their mothers facing criticism. People need to know discordant couples exist,” Kats shared.

He added that despite the heavy stigmatization he still faces today, he refuses to give up because many people look up to him for courage and inspiration
Kats urged government authorities to invest more in sensitizing the public, saying stigma remains one of the biggest killers.
“I still face a lot of stigmatization and it is tough. That is what kills most people. I was depressed, I had given up. People living with HIV still have dreams. Let them be,” he emphasized.
He further reminded the public that HIV is still real, encouraging Ugandans to always use protection, test regularly, and take the virus seriously.

” It is not fun taking medication every day. It kills you psychologically,” he added.
