Singer-turned-politician Mathias Walukaga has reportedly been hospitalised after the shock of being thrown out of the Busiro East Parliamentary race earlier this week.
According to fellow contestant Magoola Emmanuel, who is running as an independent, Walukaga was expected to appear with him at a joint press conference on Wenseday to discuss the next steps after his disqualification. However, Magoola revealed that he received a call informing him that the Kyengera Municipality Mayor had been admitted to an undisclosed hospital and was too unwell to attend.

Walukaga was kicked out of the race by the Electoral Commission following a petition filed by a supporter of incumbent MP Medard Sseggona, challenging the validity of his academic papers. The EC ruled that he did not meet the minimum academic requirements for nomination.
Sources close to the “King of Kadongo Kamu” claim he fainted on Monday evening shortly after receiving the news. He was rushed to a medical facility in Kyengera, where he is reportedly receiving treatment and responding positively.
Insiders say the development deeply affected Walukaga, who has spent over six months in intensive campaigns and invested millions of shillings in mobilisation and community donations.

Meanwhile, the National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced plans to appeal the EC decision in the High Court. Critics, however, argue that Walukaga should focus on upgrading his academic qualifications instead of fighting what they call a “dead case.”
Details about his current health condition remain scant, but we shall keep you updated as more information becomes available.
