Ugandan musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has called on residents of Luwero District to put aside political differences and rally behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in the 2026 general elections.
Addressing residents during community engagements in the district, Bebe Cool said renewed support for the NRM would help unlock development in key sectors such as roads, health care and education.

The appeal comes after the 2021 elections, in which National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Robert Kyagulanyi won Luwero with 103,782 votes, against President Museveni’s 41,166.
Bebe Cool, who is leading the Unstoppable UG campaign targeting Generation Z voters, reminded residents of Luwero’s historical role in President Museveni’s rise to power in the 1980s.

“Luwero has a special place in our history. It is time to remember the sacrifices made and support the President so that development reaches every corner of this district,” he said.
He described the low NRM performance in the last election as disappointing, warning that continued political divisions could slow down development.
“We cannot afford to let our district lag behind because of past choices. This time, we must act in the interest of Luwero’s progress,” Bebe Cool added.
The musician said the youth-focused campaign blends mobilisation with entertainment to connect with young voters, noting what he described as a growing shift in attitude among the youth in the area.
He also urged government to strengthen youth skilling and empowerment programmes to tackle unemployment.

“We ask State House to equip young people with practical skills so they can get jobs and build better futures,” he said.
On the upcoming elections, Bebe Cool called for peaceful participation, urging residents to avoid violence.
“Let us remain peaceful. No chaos, no injuries, no loss of life as we exercise our democratic rights,” he appealed.
During the campaign, residents raised concerns through a podcast platform, including water shortages, drug stock-outs in health facilities and alleged corruption in local service delivery.
As NRM mobilisation efforts continue, attention is now on whether the party can regain support in Luwero ahead of the 2026 general elections.
