It should be noted that Education is the key and most of the Ugandan citizens who have attended school and completed their studies, have attended some of the most prominent Universities In Uganda.
The following are some of the Universities in the Pearl of Africa.
1. Makerere UniversityÂ
Founded in 1970, Makerere University is Uganda’s largest and oldest university, originally established as a technical school in 1922. It holds the distinction of being the oldest current university in East Africa. The university became an independent national institution in 1970 and remains one of the top universities in Uganda, setting the standard for higher education in the country.
2. Kyambogo University
Kyambogo University is one of the largest public Universities in Uganda with 150+ academic programmes, facilities, and over 100 affiliate institutions
The University that now sits on Banda Hill is one of Uganda’s largest public Universities established by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 and the Universities and Other Tertiary institutions (Establishment of Kyambogo University) instruments of 2003. It is a merger of the former Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE).
3. Uganda Christian UniversityÂ
An authentic Christian university in Uganda, it was established by the Church of Uganda in 1997. It is a private university whose main campus is located in Mukono and is ranked among the top universities in Uganda.
The university is accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education, further solidifying its position as a leading institution in the country.
4. Makerere University Business School
The University is a school of business of Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest University that provides business and management education at the certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

The University embarked on its mission in 2013 and was determined to provide a contemporary approach to learning that would ignite a passion for growth and excellence.
In August 2022, H.E Yoweri Kaguta the President of Uganda, Museveni recognized the exceptional activities of Victoria University and awarded the institution.
6. Islamic University In Uganda
This University was opened in the year 1988 by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Government of Uganda.
Islamic University opened with 80 students and two degree programs and they currently have over 120 accredited programs, 8 faculties
