Renowned Ugandan media personality and YouTuber Kasuku has spoken out against the high cost of internet in Uganda, saying it is slowing down young people trying to earn a living online.
While speaking during a recent engagement with the President Museveni in Kampala, Kasuku pointed out that many youths have turned to social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and TikTok to survive the tough economic times. Through creativity, content creation and online hustles, several young Ugandans are now making money digitally.

However, Kasuku stressed that expensive internet bundles remain a big challenge.
“The youth are really trying. Many are earning from YouTube and other platforms, but internet is too costly. We have not seen serious support from the government yet,” Kasuku said.
He explained that affordable and stable internet is very important for content creators, vloggers and online entrepreneurs to grow their audiences and compete on the global stage. Without it, many talented youths are being held back.

Kasuku urged the government to treat digital content creation as a serious economic sector and put in place policies that support young people, including cheaper internet, skills training and financial support.
His comments have since sparked debate online, with many youths agreeing that while social media has opened new income opportunities, the high cost of staying connected continues to frustrate their progress.
