Ugandan rising singer Kapeke, real name Derrick Nsubuga, has stirred controversy after claiming that “Sitya Loss” is the only song by Eddy Kenzo truly deserving of a Grammy nomination.
This comes shortly after Kenzo bagged his second Grammy nomination, this time for his collaboration with Iranian-American artist Mehran Martin on the track “Hope and Love”, which earned a nod in the Best African Music Performance category.

While many Ugandans have celebrated the news as another win for the country’s music industry, Kapeke admits he was left confused by the nomination.
“I was surprised too because I have never listened to that song,I grew up knowing Grammy nominations go to big songs that dominate the charts. The only Kenzo song I believe deserves that kind of recognition is Sitya Loss.”,Kapeke said.
Kapeke’s comments have since sparked online reactions, with fans split between supporting his honesty and accusing him of downplaying Kenzo’s success.

Despite the debate, Kenzo’s latest nomination cements his position as one of Uganda’s biggest international music exports, continuously flying the country’s flag high on the global stage.
