Kamwenge District leaders and residents have hailed President Yoweri Museveni for restoring peace and boosting development after years of insecurity caused by ADF rebel threats.
During a gathering on Monday, Agriculture Minister and Kamwenge NRM Chairperson Frank Tumwebaze credited the President for swiftly deploying the army to neutralize rebels who attempted to infiltrate the district.

Tumwebaze also applauded Museveni for uniting communities against sectarian politics and transforming livelihoods through commercial agriculture, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and improved infrastructure.
He revealed that Kamwenge has received Shs 21 billion under PDM, benefiting about 18,000 households, and confirmed that over 70% of the long-awaited Kamwenge–Kihuura road has been completed.
He further appealed to the President to set up a permanent military base along the forest line to prevent future incursions.
While addressing crowds in Kamwenge Town Council, Museveni reassured residents that peace remains the NRM’s strongest achievement, especially for border districts affected by regional instability. He agreed to establish a battalion near Kibale National Park and instructed district leaders to provide land.

Museveni highlighted ongoing road works including the Lyantonde–Ibanda–Kamwenge and Kihuura roads—and encouraged residents to adopt irrigation and commercial farming. He urged the youth to embrace private-sector opportunities, noting how industrial parks and tourism continue to create thousands of jobs.
The President concluded by emphasizing wealth creation through farming, saying he personally earns from milk, beef, and bananas.
