Renowned Ugandan artist Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone has voiced his disappointment with the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), headed by fellow singer Eddy Kenzo, over their absence at his recent homecoming celebration.

Jose Chameleone, who is one of the founding members of the federation, said he was deeply hurt that the organization didn’t show him any support nor did they bother to send even a single representative to welcome him back.

Speaking candidly, Jose Chameleone admitted he had expected better, especially given his role in getting the federation off the ground.

He also revealed that he has initially asked his brother Pallaso who also happens to be the federation’s vice president to address the issue on his behalf, but Pallaso was reportedly reluctant to speak up.

Despite the federation’s absence, Chameleone received a warm welcome on Saturday morning at Entebbe International Airport. The scene was filled with excitement as hundreds of fans, relatives, and fellow musicians, including Pallaso, gathered to celebrate his return.

The legendary singer had been in the U.S. since the beginning of the year, where he was receiving treatment for a gastrointestinal issue that eventually led to surgery for pancreatitis in February.

While abroad, Chameleone managed to enjoy some lighter moments, including shopping trips with his friend Juliet Zawedde and his brother Weasel Manizo. However, not everything went smoothly tensions reportedly flared in March when Weasel grew frustrated and insisted on heading back home.

Now back in Uganda, Chameleone seems ready to move forward, but the silence from UNMF still lingers. For a federation meant to unite musicians, this moment has sparked questions about unity, loyalty, and whether some of Uganda’s biggest names are truly looking out for each other.
